Wii Music Fact Sheet

Create a musical masterpiece with up to four players. Anyone can play the huge selection of instruments in Wii Music with simple motions—like strumming and drumming.
• It’s easy to play improv jams. Musicians in your band jam by simply playing their instruments to the beat of a song or by improvising to their heart’s content. Play faster. Play slower. Skip a beat, or throw in 10 more. No matter what you do, Wii Music automatically transforms your improv stylings into great music. There are no mistakes—just playing for the pure joy of playing.
• Wii controls immerse you in the music. You can play most of the 60-plus instruments in Wii Music using simple motions with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Strum to play guitar, banjo and sitar. Drum to play jazz drums, congas and marching drums. Hammer away to play piano, vibraphone and marimba. Unlike most music games, Wii Music doesn’t make you use complex buttons. You only need to imitate playing the instrument.
• Wii Music offers virtually endless ways to make music. You choose the song and instruments and decide whether to blaze through a rock take on classical songs, put a jazzy spin on folk tunes or transform Nintendo classics like the Super Mario Bros.® theme into Latin-flavored numbers. The song list is only a takeoff point—it’s how you improvise with the songs that matters.
• Send your band-jam recordings to Wii Friends who have Wii Music. They’ll see your Mii™ band members, your players’ improv styles and your instrument selections. They can watch your recordings, or play over parts of your song, then send their modified recording back to you. Improv jams can be sent back and forth over WiiConnect24 and changed again and again.

Beyond the Jam:
Wii Music includes many other modes besides the main band jams, including several musical games and an enhanced video playback mode for recorded jams.
• Play it again: Use the playback mode to see your jam recordings brought to life with dramatic camera angles.
• Pick up the baton: Command an orchestra in the conducting game where you’ll wave the Wii Remote controller like a conductor’s baton to lead a Mii orchestra through orchestrated music. Make them play quickly, slowly, strongly or gently.
• Ring a bell? Play a handbells game where you’ll swing your Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to play your two handbells as part of a larger ensemble. Everyone on the team has a job to do: Play one of your notes only when the tune demands it.
• An ear for music: Take a tone quiz that tests your musical ear by giving you challenges, like putting note-playing Miis in order from lowest to highest pitch.
• Bang the drum: Play a virtual drum set in the drumming mode, the one mode in Wii Music that also uses the Wii Balance Board accessory (sold with Wii Fit™). You’ll use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers as drumsticks, and place both feet on the Wii Balance

Kid Icarus is Somewhere...

As we all know, Kid Icarus Wii wasn’t shown at E3. Well, there’s much evidence to confirm its existence and a recent comment from Miyamoto helps to confirm that. IGN asked Shigeru Miyamoto about Kid Icarus Wii and he simply said…

“Yeah, I’m not the producer of any Kid Icarus titles. There are some people who have some different ideas, but since I’m not the producer I can’t comment on anything.”

Sounds like he’s saying it exists but he’s not with the project and can’t comment on it. Can you give us a hint as to when we’ll hear about this title, Miyamoto? I’d like to know that.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

Nintendo officially announced Animal Crossing: City Folk for Wii earlier today at their conference with a Holiday release date. Well, GameSpot is now reporting that the title will release on November 16th. No word on the MSRP though. And in case you were wondering, the WiiSpeak microphone won’t be packaged with the game and will cost $29.99.

Gamespot.com

WiiSpeak-ONLINE CHAT For Wii!

“Basically, our idea with WiiSpeak is rather than to just provide a voice-chat function, we want to really connect living rooms to each other. In that sense, the microphone in WiiSpeak is really designed to be able to clearly capture many different voices being spoken in a room at the same time and convey that over the Internet. It’s a very capable microphone and it’s designed with that intent. And so that’s why WiiSpeak has taken on the form that it has.”

WiiSpeak will be sold for $29.99, with no release date set yet. I would think that it would release on the same day as Animal Crossing: City Folk, which is the first title to make use of the WiiSpeak microphone. And speaking of the new Animal Crossing, why wasn’t WiiSpeak bundled with it? Miyamoto has the answer…

“In all honesty, it’s just in relation to cost. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who want to play Animal Crossing over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Maybe just as it is. There may be some people who want to use a USB keyboard to chat and we’re fine with that. And there may be others who want to use something like WiiSpeak. So just from a cost perspective and being able to provide the game to everybody, we thought that was the best way to go.”

Metroid Prime Phazon Suit Next in First 4 Figures Metroid Line!

With the unique color scheme of black helmet and red visor, the Phazon Suit is awarded after defeating the Omega Pirate. Both Samus’ suit and gun are infected with pure Phazon. This gives the Phazon Suit an ability to protect Samus from the deadly effects of the deadly blue substance and shoot the Phazon Beam when standing in pools of Phazon. Just when Metroid Prime is defeated, the Phazon Suit is stolen and used to create one of Samus’ greatest enemies, Dark Samus!

First 4 Figures is extremely proud to present the ultimate version of the Samus Aran’s Phazon Suit. First 4 Figures has used the official game files in order to create an extremely accurate recreation of the Phazon suit, with pose inspiration taken from official Metroid artwork.

Looks incredibly on its own and really completes a display when put together with the Varia suit and Gravity suit statues.

We completely reengineered the original Varia suit model to make the Phazon suit by casting it entirely in transparent resin, adding over 25 LED lights through the suit and finished it off by adding a mirror base which really shows off the lights. When the lights are turned off, an internal IC chip allows for the lights to fade out slowly. The statue is hand finished and hand painted with metallic paints to give an authentic representation of the suits. Comes packed in a foam interior full colored box with a card of authenticity.

The Phazon Suit is highly limited at just 1500 pieces worldwide.

Height: 11 inches across base

SRP: $224.99

Available: Q1-2009

Game Chains

SWARTHMORE, PA--(Marketwire - July 9, 2008) - Since the inception of the portable game player, parents around the world have been in the position of hearing their kids complain about losing their favorite hand-held game cartridge, or maybe they've found one under the car seat, in the sofa, or in the clothes dryer after having been left in the laundry. Now, thanks to a father/daughter design team, the frustration of missing or losing game cartridges can be a thing of the past.

GameChains® (www.GameChains.com), now available and compatible with Nintendo DS™ games, helps to alleviate loss by joining the small and expensive cartridges onto a metal chain, letting players switch games quickly and conveniently, but still leaving them removable from the chain. The GameChains® tag line, written by the 9-year-old co-inventor, says it all: "You don't carry your keys without a key chain, why carry your games without GameChains®!"

GameChains® offers a perfect way to contain games while traveling on vacations, spending time at the pool, riding in the car or simply hanging around the house. The system of laser-cut tabs, powder-coated metal chain, and aggressive, but non-permanent, adhesive pads keep the player's games convenient and close-at-hand since the additional games hang from the end of the game in play.

Phahtrox: Very, very, good idea.

Widescreen DS's on the Way?

As you can see from the picture, the screens on the DS are HUGE. Much speculation has surrounded the picture, with some saying that the picture is showing what the new DS looks like or could just be error...

Battery Packs Causes Mario Kart Mishaps?

Phahtrox: I don't have this problem, but maybe I'm just lucky.

Was the weight difference, a very noticeable one, messing with the ‘mote’s center-point?

Yes, in fact. Replacing the rechargeable pack with a standard set of crap-assed gas station batteries made our karts dead center again.

Now I’ve got to figure out how to add weight to my charger packs. That or play Kart at an odd angle.

Goldeneye Coming to Wii!!!

Phahtrox: Who delayed it.

Well, someone had to step up to the plate and admit that it was not going to appear until fall '09. It was Nibris.

Wait for more info.

SSBB Was to be Better Than the One We Got?

“It’s taken over three years to make Brawl but I actually stopped trying to include new ideas early on in development. What happened in the next year and a half was that we distilled the game down, worked out which ideas we had time to include and which we didn’t," he explained.

"Sadly, we had to trim out many great concepts just to keep within the time contraints. I had a lot more characters, for example…but sadly I can’t discuss which ones didn’t make it.”

Sakurai was adamant that a sequel would not be made unless they brought a substantial heap of new things to the table.

“There are thirty-nine characters in the game this time around and just adding a few more wouldn’t be enough to justify a new game> in my opinion; I’d have to draw a line in the sand and have a new approach to make it worthwhile. As long as the fans enjoy it, though, that’s what matters and in the distant future, I guess that might be something I have to consider," said Sakurai.

New Elebits for DS Screenshots!

Everyone remember Elebits for the Wii? Yeah, that old launch title, well the new sequel is coming to the DS, more should be released at E3 (July 15th-17th). Here is some information on it as well as some new screenshots.

"If you haven't had a peek at Elebits: The Adventures of Kai & Zero, then poke your nose into our gallery and have a look around. Instead of motion-controlled hunting and grabbing, the sequel to the Wii game is taking a much more traditional approach. While we weren't terribly surprised by the shift to a top-down action/RPG style, we're still happy to report that it looks pretty cute, if not quite as original as the first game. We'll likely see a lot more of Kai and Zero during E3."

LINK TO SCREENSHOTS!

Also I am terribly sorry for the blog being somewhat down, Phahtrox is on vacation and I (aladd04) Must fill in for him for a few days. Once again we are sorry.

Bored and Have a Missing Leg? Play some Wii!

"We're extremely proud to make Fun Centers a part of our collaboration with Starlight," said Don James, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Operations. "The inclusive fun of Wii is especially valuable for families in need of a tension reliever while dealing with serious pediatric illness. We hope the new Fun Centers will give kids and their loved ones an opportunity to play, laugh and connect with each other amid trying circumstances."

"Our patients at Childrens Hospital benefit greatly from the Fun Centers," said Linda Garcia, Manager, Child Development Services, for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. "The Fun Centers serve as a diversional tool for Child Life Specialists to provide to patients and families in the playrooms, at bedside and throughout the hospital, including medical units, clinics and waiting rooms. The Fun Centers promote socialization, mastery and fun. Through this play, children learn about cooperation, positive thinking and problem-solving skills. The Fun Centers also provide opportunities for hand strengthening and finger dexterity, an important therapeutic value for our patients undergoing physical rehabilitation."

"Everyone who has spent time in a hospital knows how scary and lonely it can be," said Paula Van Ness, CEO of Starlight. "Our Fun Centers transform the hospital experience for children, bringing enjoyment and laughter to an otherwise daunting experience. And as an added benefit of this new Fun Center model, the Wii technology can be used to encourage children to do physical therapy and motor coordination exercises."

Hula Game Coming to Wii

f you played some of the Wii Fit mini games, you just had to know this was coming. A listing for a new title called Hula Wii: Minna de Hula wo Odorou ("Dance Hula Together") recently appeared in a Japanese online retailer's database. Yes, it's a hula-themed dance game, and yes it's compatible with the Wii Balance Board.
Actually, not just compatible. The retailer lists the title as requiring the peripheral. This shouldn't be that big a problem, though, considering that over two million people have Wii Fit in Japan.
The retailer does not provide any details on the game, which hasn't been formally announced by its publisher, Milestone. A Japanese release is set for September 25.
